My goal of giving you all a new blog every two weeks has failed to happen this month, and there are several good reasons for that. Our little lady has started summer school at the Upper Elementary, tried out for a club soccer team and made it, spent five evenings at an intense soccer camp, and we upgraded our car. Whew!! While all of these things are great to write a blog about, there is one more thing that our family did this month that seems most fitting to let you in on. He is the reason we are having sleepless nights, long days, and more love than we can handle. We added a new Boston Terrier baby to our family. Everyone meet Tank (we do love our boulevard beer in this house)!

Tank (our nod to Boulevard)
With the lose of our Boston baby of 12 years, Brewtus, our house seemed to be missing something. All of us, Dipsy included, seemed lost. We love the Boston Terrier breed and we love having 2 dogs. After a couple months of discussion, we seemed ready as a family to add a new Bossy to the house. Losing a dog is hard, but adding one in seems just as hard. The potty training, the making sure your shoes are put up and the closet doors are closed. It is daunting and sometimes makes you question what you were thinking.

His hiding place when he takes playing too far with Dipsy.
This new little guy has put us on alert in so many ways. He is just the missing piece we never knew we needed to make this house tick. His personality and spunk have shown us that we did choose the right name for him! How? Well here are just a few adventures over this month so far.
He has turned over his kennel in attempts to get out and he has, in fact, managed to unzip that pop up kennel and free himself while we were gone. He pulls our doorstop across the room (it weighs as much as he does) because you know, everything is a toy. He has found shelter from the other pup during playtime underneath our coffee table. Our shoes are not safe from his wrath, even if they are on your feet. He has rolled down our stairs while being brave enough to master them.

Love at first sight.
No matter how spunky he gets, he is always down for a good nap curled up in your lap, or a snuggle session on the couch. He loves to give morning kisses and make sure you keep in a place by putting his paws up on your cheeks. For every minute of rambunctious play, he gives just as much in love. He has not given up hope that Dipsy will be his friend and tries everyday to play and snuggle. As the days wear on, Dipsy has seemed to warm up to him a little more each day.

Starting to like each other just a little bit.

Puppy naps in your lap are the best.
All the fun in the house has also translated to fun outside the house. This little guy loves car rides and knows that the morning means dropping Jaylee at summer school, where he will get snuggles from the teacher at the drop off line, and then a ride to Starbucks. Yes, Starbucks. We need our coffee (because puppy) and our two little guys get their puppy whips. The people at Starbucks love our pups and know them by name. It seems Tank already has a fan club.

Headed to Starbucks.

He loves that puppy whip.
Our family did take a little trip, sans puppies, to checkout bar k and see if it was something our guys would like. It was a great experience and we are for sure taking our pups there once Tank is a little bigger. If you love dogs, this place is like a small slice of heaven by the mighty mo.
The training will get easier as the love just grows and we will find our new rhythm soon enough. Until then we will continue to enjoy the snuggles, puppy breath, and sleepless nights. Because just like having a baby, these early days do not last long and they will grow. Losing a dog was hard and gaining a new one has been a blessing. You may ask why we jumped for a new puppy so soon after losing one, and my answer is this. If you cannot love a dog in the older years and to the end, then you should not have the privilege of enjoying a new puppy. We know we are a home that works best with 2 dogs, and the time was right. Dogs are a blessing and a curse, the love for a puppy and the heartache of one whose days are coming to an end go hand in hand. How silly are humans to give so much love to something that can only be with us for such a short time?

Our dogs are a therapist, best friend, and pain in the butt all at the same time, and I would not miss out on any of that for anything. Here’s to watching Tank grow up and sharing his journey with all of you!

He’s growing so fast!
